You'll need two skills to be able to do this. One of course, being simple magic tricks. Card tricks, coin tricks and other sleight of hand tricks are fairly easy to learn. What separates out the truly impressive magicians from those in training is the next skill you need to learn.
Public speaking. Yes, you read that right. All skilled magicians also have excellent public speaking skills. In order to direct peoples attention, you'll need to develop what's called a "patter," or that mesmerizing speaking that magicians do while performing their tricks. Many magicians simply tell engaging and mesmerizing stories while doing their tricks, so everybody is watching their face, and not their hands.
These skills can obviously be learned. You just need to practice. Clubs, public speaking courses are a great start. Even though you, like most people, are likely deathly afraid of public speaking, it is a skill that can dramatically help you in virtually every aspect of your life.
