Ballet dancing has been around for centuries. As an art form it originated in Italy as part of the Renaissance. However, much of ballet is credited to the French. The ballet de cour is really what helped to shape ballet dancing as we know it today.

Grace and beauty are still the hallmark of ballet, in spite of the fact that the dance form has gone through so many changes. Ballet is a difficult style of dance to perfect. Due to this fact it can take years of self dedication and practice to become a skilled ballerina. However, this is not to say that average people cannot learn this form of dance. Ballet is not about instant gratification, you will need to start at the beginning and progress by learning.

These are perhaps a good choice for those who are really wanting to get a taste of ballet dancing. Here you may not pay as much money as you would for a private class, but you could still get some one on one instruction.

The correct clothing is required for ballet classes. Shoes are especially important. You will find different materials being used for the ballet slippers. They should fit you well and be comfortable. It is often vital that they are not too tight or too loose. It is wise not to have clothing that is baggy but it should also allow you to move. Your clothes should let your body lines show when you dance, this way your teacher can see well how you are moving.

As you continue to learn more skills you could begin to experience some of the advantages of ballet. Many times you'll see some weight loss and better muscle tone, plus you may find you are more flexible and your muscles are stronger. All these benefits are a result of the fact that ballet can be hard work. As you learn ballet you will probably find you are pushing yourself to reach new heights and will be stretching your body as you dance.

You typically will not just experience physical advantages. You could also find you are better off emotionally. Some advantages emotionally in dance is that you will be expressing yourself in a new kind of way. As you move, emotions can be set free. This in turn will might help you to relieve stress.
