Posed Photos vs Candid Photos - What to use for Custom Oil Paintings

By Kenneth Lisonne

Taking a candid picture taken may not seem as tough as it is. Such photography focuses on capturing the subject in the midst of spontaneity rather than the techniques. With a good candid shot, it will be the marvelous candidate for your own custom oil paintings.

Some of the best pet and children pictures we have seen were from candid photographs .Memorable the way they are, these great photographs in turn make great oil paintings. Here are some tips that will help you capture these moments.

First you need to carry your camera around! Why, you might ask. Well, you can never know for sure when those unique moments arise. You have to be all ready to grab every opportunity which comes your way! Alternatively, should you forget to carry your camera, you can always use your camera phone.

Having a good photograph with a decent resolution and quality will ensure that your portrait painting will turn out exactly the way you want them to be. What if your photos are blurred and fuzzy? Not to worry, our painters are capable of turning them into beautiful oil paintings.

It is best that the people are unaware of camera. You might observe a change in behavior if they realized that they are being filmed. Such reaction occurs deep in the subconscious level of humans and even animals!

What gives a candid photograph its flavor is the spontaneity of the subject taken; something which is un-posed and unintentional. So keep the subject's mind off the lens and never intrude their personal space.

To be as unobtrusive as possible, use the zoom feature of you camera to remain at a distance. Also, it helps to turn off the flash. Even when you are outside of their personal space a blinding flash will always be distracting.

If it is not possible to be outside of their personal space, keep taking photos for an extended period of time. Even if the subjects are aware of the camera, after a while they will take their focus away from it, and resume what they were doing before. This leads us to the next point:

The more photos the better! Keep taking photos and don't be embarrassed about taking multiple shots of the same scene! You don't have to scrimp on films for a digital camera either. Multiple shots help reduce the probability of getting a blurred image.

It will also be good if you can make use of the continuous shooting mode of your camera. This facilitates multiple candid shots and creates that perfect shot for a perfect portrait painting.

Mixing up the angles and perspectives creates more exciting and interesting photos too. One way is to shoot from your hip level. This not only makes shooting less obvious, it also render new perspectives. You can crouch down or stand on an elevation as well. Just let your creative juices flow!

It will be good if the picture is taken when the subjects are interacting with each other or in activity. Since they are in the midst of doing something, their focus will be on their activities and not you.

You can capture interesting relationships and level of involvement which will add to the spontaneity of the photograph. You will then be able to tell the story behind the image taken.

This is in sharp contrast to traditional portrait photography where the subjects are posing and appear static.

With all these, you are now ready for candid photography and one step closer to creating your own beautiful oil painting. - 31989
