R.P.M.: The old styled lenient Quinn becomes the head of the university, and then approves a bust of liberals to spare the establishment. Inept Erich Segal script, comparably poor Kramer direction gives the film a certain camp value. Cast includes Anthony Quinn, Ann-Margret, Gary Lockwood, Paul Winfield, Graham Jarvis, and Alan Hewitt. (97 minutes, 1970)

Metropolis: A classic silent film fantasy of a futuristic city and its mechanized civilization, with an upper class young man leaving behind his life of luxury to join overpowered employees in revolt. Cast includes Brigitte Helm, Alfred Abel, Gustav Froelich, Rudolf Klein-Rogge, and Fritz Rasp. (124 minutes, 1927)

The Eagle and the Hawk: A well generated anti war film with hesitant idol March, intimidating gunner Grant, everyone's buddy Oakie, and understanding city gal Lombard. Awakening this John Mouk Saunders tale is still well timed. Cast includes Fredric March, Cary Grant, Jack Oakie, Carole Lombard, and Douglas Scott. (68 minutes, 1933)

Fracture: Hopkins plays a cold, determining gentleman who shoots his spouse once he finds she's been in bed with an L.A.P.D. lieutenant. However there is no definitive proof, which makes the case a perfect one for partner D.A. Gosling, who's just getting ready to move on to a cushy job at a high-end law firm. Cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Ryan Gosling, David Stratham, Rosamund Pike, Billy Burke, Fiona Shaw, Bob Gunton, Embeth Davidtz, Cliff Curtis, Xander Berkeley, Josh Starnberg, and Joe Spano. (112 minutes, 2007)

South Ernest Shackleton and the Endurance Expedition: Exceptional record of the fabled 1915 Ernest Shackleton journey to Antarctica and the stranded team's attempts to stay alive. The tale has been remunerated and emphasized as long as can be remembered, however nothing could top this original, simple account with startlingly transparent footage that looks as if it was shot this morning. (88 minutes, 1919)

MacArthur: An intense look at the legend of the elaborate military chief throughout WW2 and the Korean War. Peck is phenomenal although the film doesn't hold the punch of Patton. Cast includes Gregory Peck, Dan O'Herlihy, Ed Flanders, Sandy Kenyon, Dick O'Neill, and Craft Fleming. (130 minutes, 1977)

Pale Rider: This Eastwood Western starts out just fine, the legend of a gun slinger going to the help of some battling miners, however ends up being slow, conceited, and unexciting with so much cloning of Shabe as to be preposterous. Cast includes Clint Eastwood, Michael Moriarty, Carrie Snodgrass, Christopher Penn, Richard Dysart, Sydney Dime, Richard Kiel, Doug McGrath, and John Russell. (113 minutes, 1985)

Aguirre the Wrath of God: A commanding, spellbinding story of a misled conquistador who leads a group of men from Europe in 1560 to South America on a journey looking for the 7 cities of gold. The dreamlike film was shot on location in remote Amazon forests; Kinski is perfect as the crazy Aguirre. Cast includes Klaus Kinski, Ruy Guerra, Del Negro, Helena Rojo, Cecilia Rivera, and Peter Berling. (94 minutes, 1972)

Sensations of 1945: The fame hungry Powell shows journalist O'Keefe how to become successful in this campy musical. One marvelous number has her tap dancing inside a mammoth pinball game. Cast includes Eleanor Powell, Dennis O'Keefe, C. Aubrey Smith, Eugene Pallette, W. C. Territories, Cab Calloway, and Sophie Tucker. (86 minutes, 1945)

Remember, nearly any film you can think of can be downloaded off the web these days. Internet searches like "Buy DVD Online" and "Streaming Online Movies" will help you find film download sites. Add "Movie Download Web Sites" to the list if the other searches don't work for you. - 31989
